Using ProBuilder to Configure and Quote

ProBuilder is CDF’s online door configuration tool, available at cdfdistributors.com. It allows users to build complete door, frame, and hardware assemblies by selecting compatible components step by step. ProBuilder generates instant pricing and can convert a configuration directly into an order.

What is ProBuilder?

ProBuilder is a web-based tool that guides users through the process of configuring a commercial door assembly. It structures selections as a complete assembly, meaning the door, frame, and hardware are configured together rather than as separate items. ProBuilder validates compatibility between components as selections are made, reducing errors in the ordering process.

How do I access ProBuilder?

ProBuilder is available at cdfdistributors.com. Users can create an account or log in to an existing account to access the configuration tool. Creating an account allows users to save configurations, view order history, and reorder previous assemblies.

What can I configure in ProBuilder?

ProBuilder supports configuration of hollow metal doors, hollow metal frames, wood doors, aluminum storefront doors, commercial metal building doors, wind rated doors, and commercial hardware. During configuration, users select specifications including door size, frame type, wall type, hardware functions, fire rating, and finish. ProBuilder displays only compatible options at each step, so users do not need to manually verify whether components work together.

Does ProBuilder show pricing?

Yes. ProBuilder displays pricing as components are selected during configuration. The price updates in real time as specifications change. Once a configuration is complete, ProBuilder generates a detailed quote that itemizes each component in the assembly.

Can I save a ProBuilder configuration without placing an order?

Yes. Logged-in users can save configurations for later review. Saved configurations can be retrieved, modified, and converted into orders at any time. This is useful for projects that require approval before ordering or for contractors preparing bids.

Requesting a Custom Quote

While ProBuilder handles most standard configurations, some projects require a custom quote from CDF’s sales team. Custom quotes are appropriate for non-standard sizes, unusual hardware combinations, large multi-opening projects, or specifications that fall outside ProBuilder’s standard configuration options.

How do I request a custom quote from CDF?

Start with ProBuilder at cdfdistributors.com to see if your configuration can be handled through the standard tool. If your project requires specifications not available in ProBuilder, contact CDF’s sales team by phone at (855) 769-9895 or by email at sales@cdfdoors.com. Include as much detail as possible about the project requirements to receive an accurate quote.

What information should I include when requesting a quote?

The more detail provided upfront, the faster and more accurate the quote will be. CDF’s sales team needs specific information about every component in the assembly to generate pricing. The following table lists the key specifications needed for a complete quote.

Door Size

Width and height of each door opening (e.g., 3’0” x 7’0”)

Door Material

Hollow metal or wood, or other

Frame Type

Drywall wrap, masonry, or welded

Wall Type

Number of openings and whether they are identical or varied

Project Name/Location

Helps CDF track multi-phase or repeat orders

Can I email drawings or schedules for a quote?

Yes. CDF accepts door schedules, architectural drawings, and specification sheets by email at sales@cdfdoors.com. Sending a door schedule is the most efficient way to request a quote for projects with multiple openings. CDF’s sales team will review the schedule and return a detailed quote with pricing for each opening.

Placing an Order

Orders can be placed through ProBuilder, by phone, or by email. ProBuilder is the fastest method for standard configurations because it validates components, calculates pricing, and submits the order in a single workflow.

How do I place an order through ProBuilder?

Complete the configuration in ProBuilder by selecting all required components for the assembly. Review the configuration summary, which shows all selected specifications and pricing. Submit the order directly from ProBuilder. CDF processes the order and sends an order confirmation to the email address associated with the account.

How do I place an order by phone or email?

Call CDF at (855) 769-9895 or email sales@cdfdoors.com with your project specifications. If you have already received a quote from CDF, reference the quote number when placing the order. CDF’s sales team will confirm the order details and send an order confirmation.

Are there minimum order requirements?

CDF does not publish a fixed minimum order quantity. Single-opening orders are accepted. Contact CDF’s sales team at (855) 769-9895 or sales@cdfdoors.com for current pricing on single-unit and small-quantity orders.

What payment methods does CDF accept?

Contact CDF’s sales team at (855) 769-9895 or sales@cdfdoors.com for information about accepted payment methods, credit terms, and account setup for new customers.

Modifying or Canceling an Order

Because CDF fabricates assemblies to order at its Nashville facility, the ability to modify or cancel an order depends on where the order is in the production process. Contact CDF as early as possible if changes are needed.

How do I modify an order after it has been placed?

Contact CDF’s sales team immediately at (855) 769-9895 or sales@cdfdoors.com with your order number and the requested changes. Modifications may be possible if the order has not entered fabrication and is requested within a certain timeframe after ordering. Once fabrication has begun, modifications are not possible. CDF’s sales team will confirm whether the modification can be accommodated.

Can I cancel an order?

Contact CDF at (855) 769-9895 as soon as possible to request cancellation. Orders that are in production or have shipped are not eligible for cancellation. CDF’s sales team will advise on cancellation options and any applicable fees based on the order status.

What is CDF’s return policy?

Because most CDF products are fabricated to order based on project-specific specifications, returns are not accepted. Contact CDF at (855) 769-9895 or sales@cdfdoors.com if you have questions or concerns with an order.

Understanding a CDF Quote

CDF quotes itemize every component in a door assembly and provide specifications for each item. Understanding how to read a CDF quote helps avoid ordering errors and speeds up the approval process.

What information is included on a CDF quote?

A CDF quote typically includes the following information for each opening in the project.

Quote Number

Unique identifier for the quote, used to reference when placing an order

Opening Description

Summary of the door, frame, and hardware for each opening

Door Specifications

Size, material, gauge, fire rating, and finish

Frame Specifications

How long is a CDF quote valid?

Quote validity periods are noted on each quote document. Contact CDF’s sales team at (855) 769-9895 or sales@cdfdoors.com to confirm whether a quote is still current or to request an updated quote if pricing has changed.

Can I request changes to an existing quote?

Yes. Contact CDF’s sales team with the quote number and the requested changes. CDF will issue a revised quote reflecting the updated specifications and pricing. Alternatively, use ProBuilder to adjust the configuration and generate a new quote with updated pricing.

Fire-Rated Assembly Ordering

Fire-rated door assemblies require every component in the opening to carry a matching fire rating. This includes the door, frame, hinges, lock, closer, glazing, and any other hardware. CDF fabricates fire-rated assemblies and rivets fire labels onto each rated component before shipping.

What fire ratings are available through CDF?

CDF supplies assemblies at all five standard commercial fire rating levels: 20-minute, 45-minute, 60-minute, 90-minute, and 3-hour. The required rating is determined by the project’s architectural specifications and the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ). Drywall wrap-around frames are available up to 90-minute ratings. Assemblies requiring a 3-hour rating must use masonry frames.

How do I order a fire-rated assembly?

In ProBuilder, select the required fire rating during configuration. ProBuilder will filter available components to show only those that are compatible with the selected rating. For custom fire-rated configurations, contact CDF at (855) 769-9895 or sales@cdfdoors.com with the required rating and full project specifications. CDF’s sales team will verify component compatibility and provide a quote for the complete rated assembly.

Technical Support and Assistance

CDF’s sales and technical team assists with product selection, configuration questions, installation guidance, and order issues. Support is available by phone and email during business hours.

How do I get help selecting the right products for my project?

Start with ProBuilder at cdfdistributors.com, which guides users through compatible product selections for each assembly. For projects with specifications outside ProBuilder’s standard options, or for guidance on code requirements, wall types, or hardware functions, call CDF at (855) 769-9895 or email sales@cdfdoors.com.

Contact CDF immediately at (855) 769-9895 or sales@cdfdoors.com with your order number and a description of the issue. For damaged shipments, document the damage with photographs before discarding any packaging. CDF will provide instructions for resolution, which may include replacement, or repair, depending on the situation.
